About

I am a PhD student in the Graduate Group in Demography, University of Pennsylvania. My research interests are demography, health, inequality and social policy in India and South Asia.

Before coming to the GGD, I was a research fellow at the research institute for compassionate economics (r.i.c.e.), and a research assistant to Prof. Jean Dreze at the Department of Economics, University of Allahabad. I completed a Masters of Arts (5 year integrated) in Development Studies from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, where I was a part of the first cohort of students in this program.

This website is a work in progress. Along with Kanika, I recently started a joint blog on health, development and related issues in India here.

Below is a photo from rural Mymensingh, Bangladesh. A teddy bear dries in the sun, after a shower, suspended with a string tied to its ear. Without it, this page was too bland.
