Construction has begun on the Arts Cafe here at the Kelly Writers House. The architects are DIGSAU, a team led by Jeff Goldstein and Aaron Jezzi. The contractor is Murphy, Quigley, led by Nick Holz. Acoustics are being handled by Metropolitan Acoustics, led by Seth Harrison. At Penn our project manager is Jim Palka. Our point person at KWH is Andrew Beal. The fabulous new A/V equipment—cameras, audio, lighting—is being made possible through a donation by Howie Lipson. The entire renovation is being made possible by the extraordinary support of David and Christine Gross-Loh.
The first six photos here show the current state of things, about halfway through the demolitions necessary to get the project started. The final three photos are the early rendering, model and drawing prepared by DIGSAU for presentation.
