In Biology 438, students use a high speed video camera at 500 frames per second to record a physical activity of their choosing.  Many elect to record actions associated with their favorite sports.  They used Logger Pro software to analyze the motion.

According to Dr. Rome, “The purpose of the project is to relate muscle function to locomotion. Originally I told students to study the biomechanics of their favorite activity, but after a good bit of giggling from the class, we decided to switch it to their second favorite activity,”
