Ye Tian is a Lecturer in Foreign Languages at Penn. Previously, he taught Chinese at Harvard University from 2006 to 2013. He also taught eight summers between 2005 and 2013 at the Harvard Beijing Academy, and one summer at the Middlebury College in 2014. He served as the coordinator of the Summer Intensive Chinese Language Program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey in 2015. Ye Tian was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of East Asian Studies at Bucknell University from 2015 to 2016.
Ye Tian earned his Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and a Master’s degree in Chinese Philology from Beijing Language and Culture University. With a Ph.D. in Education, Society and Culture from University of California, Riverside, his research is centered on Chinese language education, with an interest in Register Pedagogy, and a focus on investigating Chinese language education through sociocultural and historical frameworks and methodologies.
