ImpactED is thrilled to introduce our newest team member, Program Coordinator Jocelyn Hastings (pictured at left). In this role, Jocelyn will provide crucial support for ImpactED’s evaluation and development efforts, helping with the design and execution of our training programs and coordinating key program evaluation activities. Jocelyn leverages a strong background in survey research, and a commitment to ImpactED’s core values of empathy, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Tell us a little bit about your background—where you’re from and what led you to ImpactED?
I’m originally from a small town in Western Massachusetts. I relocated to Philadelphia to explore a new city and pursue bachelor’s degrees in Public Health and Spanish. Philly is responsible for exposing me to many amazing professional opportunities related to nonprofit advocacy and social science research. I heard about the position at ImpactED from a former coworker who spoke very highly of the work. It was exciting because my passion for social change and community engagement directly aligns with that of ImpactED.
Can you describe your new role and what you hope to achieve?
As the program coordinator at ImpactED I’m responsible for program design, coordination, and monitoring for ImpactED’s evaluation and development projects. I’m excited to get to know my new team members and work closely with them to promote a high level of excellence on all of our projects.
How do you spend your free time?
I really love music and travel! I typically spend my free time listening to the latest album release or planning my next solo adventure. If you catch me on a good day, I’m hanging out on my balcony trying to learn new songs on my saxophone.
What’s an achievement (personal or professional) you’re proud of?
I’m really proud of the work I’ve done with Project Emancipation Inc. As Co-Founder and Vice President, I’ve worked to create safe spaces and communities of healing for women who’ve experienced violence or abuse. I’m really proud of the progress we’ve made so far as a new organization and I’m looking forward to our continued growth.
What’s the last great book you read?
I’m currently reading “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R. R. Martin. It’s an amazing book with an extremely engaging storyline. I’m a huge fan of theTV show (Game of Thrones), so I really enjoy reading the book to get a deeper understanding of all the characters and their backgrounds.
