Bio

I am the Director of Special Projects for the School of Engineering and Applied Science.  I have been at Penn since 1976 when I started as a freshman in Computer Science and Engineering.  After graduating in 1980, I worked for the Computer and Information Science Department as a sysadmin.  In 1990, I became the Chief Information Officer for the School of Engineering and Applied Science.  In 1996, I became the Chief Information Officer for the School of Arts & Sciences as well.  After 2000, I started getting involved in renovation and new building projects for the School of Engineering and Applied Science.  In 2009, I became head of both facilities planning and operations for the School of Engineering and Applied Science.  In 2018, I narrowed my focus to large construction projects and data analysis and data engineering.

I’m married to Flaura, who is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Penn. We live in Narberth, Pennsylvania and have two sons, Zachary, who is a data scientist at Chegg and Andrew who is pursuing a Masters in Education at La Salle.
