Jay C. Treat is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He teaches occasional courses, primarily on the history of interpretation of the Song of Songs or the Sermon on the Mount. He is a member of the International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies. He is a long-time member and webmaster of the Philadelphia Seminar on Christian Origins.

His Ph.D. dissertation is an exploration of Lost Keys: Text and Interpretation in Old Greek Song of Songs and Its Earliest Manuscript Witnesses.

His current work in progress is a commentary on the Old Greek Song of Songs for the SBL Commentary on the Septuagint.

He recently retired from Arts & Sciences Computing, for which he focused on information technology for instruction and the Humanities.
