Religion & The Election

Through the University of Pennsylvania’s Program for Research on Religion and Urban Civil Society (PRRUCS), Dr. Melissa J. Wilde hosted a series of university-wide talks regarding the position of religion within the 2016 Presidential Election. The program for the colloquium is below.

Religion and the 2016 Presidential Election Colloquiums

Although the public largely believes that religion’s impact on public life has waned, there is certainly evidence that religion is staggeringly influential in terms of public discourse and political mobilization. This moment is ripe for an interdisciplinary investigation, reassessment, and discussion of the place of religion in politics.

With the participation of scholars of religion and politics from within the University of Pennsylvania and beyond, this forum will bring together leading minds to fruitfully exchange ideas, grapple with intellectual puzzles, and disseminate findings and commentary, particularly with regards to the 2016 Presidential Election.
