The 2024 Mid-Atlantic Geobiology Symposium registration is now open!

Dear Mid-Atlantic Geobiology Community,

We are pleased to announce that the 31st Mid-Atlantic Geobiology Symposium will be held on Friday March 15, 2024 (from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST) at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn). We welcome presentations (oral or poster) on geobiology-related topics including: paleobiology, geology, geomicrobiology, geochemistry, biophysics, sedimentology, ecology, oceanography, climate science, planetary science and evolutionary biology. The symposium is free to attend thanks to the generous support of the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at Penn.

The goal of the Mid-Atlantic Geobiology Symposium, initiated in 1990 (https://www.pfefferkorngeology.com/geobiology-symposium/), is to support regional interactions and collaborations to expand understanding of geobiological processes across spatial and temporal scales and at a range of environmental conditions. This yearly event has been hosted by members of various institutions in the Mid-Atlantic (e.g., University of Pennsylvania, Smithsonian Institution, University of Delaware, Rutgers University, John Hopkins University and the U. S. Geological Survey, among others) acting as rotating partners of the symposia. Ultimately, we hope to bring together researchers at various career stages at a range of institutions (e.g., PUI, State and Private R1 Universities, and federal research entities) in the region.

Registration for those wishing to present will close on Sunday,  February 18, 2024. You may register to be a participant without presentation until Sunday February 25, 2024. You can register using this link.

Please spread the word to anyone who may be interested in attending!

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at geobiosymposium@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

The Organizing Committee:

Prof. Ileana Pérez-Rodríguez (Penn EES)

Prof. Katherine Dawson (Rutgers ES)
