Prof. Américo Mendoza-Mori, Quechua faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania, was invited to speak at the annual event that commemorates the 9th anniversary of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Indigenous Peoples. He will discuss on how Indigenous Peoples contribute to urban societies far from their ancestral homes – and the efforts needed to ensure the survival and flourishing of their languages, cultures and identities in this new context. Specifically he will be share the work he does at Penn promoting Quechua within US universities.
This gathering will take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on September 13th.

Hablará sobre cómo los Pueblos Originarios contribuyen a las sociedades urbanas, y también sobre los esfuerzos para asegurar la permanencia y florecimiento de sus culturas, lenguas e identidades en estos nuevos contextos.
