What to expect

If you are passionate about journalism that looks at popular culture and how we live today, consider a 10-week internship at The Philadelphia Inquirer in the features department. We cover the arts (high culture and low), the changing natures of work and family, issues of identity and belonging (or not belonging), the roles of food in a city full of foodies and food deserts, and the sort of stories that can be missed if you are not looking closely but gurgle up from outside the mainstream.

Be part of a team of writers and editors at one of America’s most honored news organizations, one that believes in 21st century audience development techniques and using all the tools of online journalism but also emphasizes strong print products as well. Interns will be expected to pitch ideas as well as work on assignments.

  • be a self starter with strong writing ability
  • have previous reporting experience (either at a campus publication or through previous internships or freelance assignments)
  • be well read on current events
