What are the research projects available?

This site will provide projects in the areas of catalysis and molecular dynamics with cross-over into the methods associated with high throughput experimentation (HTE) while learning the fundamentals of success in science via training, mentoring, and industrial partnerships. What is the duration of the program?

The program will be a 10-week summer research internship starting at the end of May and ending end of July / beginning of August. It typically starts Tuesday after Memorial Day and ends the end of July. Participants are required to attend all elements of the program.

 

How many students will be supported with this award?

This site will host ten students  with limited previous experience in research each summer starting summer 2020. Priority will be made for sophomores and juniors (or rising junior and rising seniors). Applicants must be US citizens.

 

What is the stipend and financial support?

REU students will receive a $5000 plus housing and travel expenses.

 

When is the application deadline? When will i know if I was accepted?

The application deadline is February 5 of each year. The committee will inform applicants by mid-March.

 

Are there any required courses?

Applicants should have general chemistry and organic chemistry by May of the summer they would like to participate. Computational project will require math courses.  Applications will be evaluated on case by case basis. Feel free to reach out to the leadership for specific questions.
