Hello!

I am Srujana Samhita Yadavalli, but I usually go by ‘Sam’ or ‘Samhita’.

I am currently an Assistant Professor of Genetics at the Waksman Institute at Rutgers University-New Brunswick (Yadavalli Lab). My lab is broadly interested in mechanisms underlying antimicrobial resistances in bacteria. Specifically, my lab studies signaling systems and small protein regulators that affect bacterial stress responses. Prior to this, I was a Research Associate at Rutgers in Bryce Nickel‘s lab at Rutgers, and I was a postdoc at Penn, in Mark Goulian‘s lab working on bacterial signal transduction systems and regulation of gene expression. I got my PhD in Microbiology at the Ohio State University in Michael Ibba‘s lab, where I worked on translation quality control at the level of house-keeping enzymes called aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases.
