During my time at Penn, I have participated in a number of events and activities outside of my primary research.
Director: Activities for Community Education in Science (ACES)
We coordinate events for 3rd-8th grade students to complete experiments promoting active scientific exploration. I supported and mentored other graduate students, including securing succession of the Leadership Board.
Communications Chair: Penn Women in Chemistry
As the founding newsletter editor, I created a framework to promote Women in Chemistry events and provide a space for women’s voices. Additionally, the communications committee created the WiC website, which can be found here: http://women.chem.upenn.edu/
Finance Chair: 2016 Fall ACS Graduate Student Symposium Planning Committee (GSSPC)
We organized a national symposium of invited speakers focusing on how collaboration enriches research. I maintained symposium finances, including planning and managing the budget and coordinating all reimbursements.
Member: Association for Cultural Diversity in Chemistry (ACDC)
As a group, we coordinated speaker events and undergraduate poster sessions for students in the Philadelphia area. I maintained the website and coordinated communication from 2016-2017.
