Conflict Culture Research Data consists of two datasets:
1. The Cultural Heritage Event Dataset (CHEV), a geo-referenced dataset of cultural heritage destruction events between 1989 and 2016. Drawing from the Dow-Jones Factiva Database, the CHEV dataset provides micro-level, geo-referenced, event-level data about the intentional destruction of cultural heritage sites during conflict.
2. The Cultural Heritage Site List (CHSL), a reference cultural heritage site list. Drawing from the OpenStreetMap dataset and including documented social and ethnic attributes for cultural heritage sites, these data provide a coded reference set for the countries with event-level data between 1989 and 2016.
Data and codebooks for the Cultural Heritage Event Dataset and Cultural Heritage Site List are available to researchers upon request. To access data, please email heritage [at] pennmuseum [dot] org.
