Job Opportunity – Part-Time Digital & Social Media Editor, EAS Miscellany

EAS Miscellany, the digital companion to Early American Studies, seeks a part-time Digital & Social Media Editor to expand and enhance our online presence. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong interest in public-facing scholarship and digital publishing.

 

Responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Coordinate digital submissions from journal authors
  • Edit and prepare content for EAS Miscellany
  • Communicate with authors about submissions and revisions
  • Meet weekly with co-editors to discuss initiatives
  • Develop new features and series for the site
  • Manage and schedule social media posts
  • Help supervise grad assistants and oversee content uploads via WordPress

Candidates ideally will possess the following qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with digital publishing platforms (especially WordPress)
  • Experience or interest in academic social media engagement
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with authors and editorial staff
  • Interest in early American studies preferred

This is a part-time position with a stipend of approximately $5,000/year.

At minimum, the successful applicant will hold a BA in a humanities field. Preference will be given to those who hold an MA or PhD in an early American field and who have some prior experience with WordPress and/or various social media platforms. Ideal candidates may be recent MA or PhD recipients, ABDs, or junior faculty.
