The Penn Education and Inequality Workshop is thrilled to be the venue for the second event in Penn GSE’s Early Childhood and Family Studies Speaker Series: Dr. J. Lawrence Aber, NYU. Please join us for this event, sponsored by the Early Childhood Education and Family Studies Academic Certificate Program (ECEFS) and the Penn Early Childhood and Family Research Center (PECF). Professor Aber will be speaking about the science, politics and ethics of conducting education research in conflict and armed-conflict settings, with connections to policy related to education in emergencies.
Dr. Aber is the Willner Family Professor of Psychology and Public Policy at NYU’s Steinhardt School and a leading expert in the impact of poverty and violence on child development. He has authored and edited several influential books, including Neighborhood Poverty: Context and Consequences for Children and Child Development and Social Policy: Knowledge for Action. His research and policy work aims to improve the well-being of children and families through innovative programs and evaluations.
