Bess W. Heyman Professor
Ian S. Lustick, a member of the Department of Political Science, earned his B.A. at Brandeis University, and completed both his M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. Before moving to the University of Pennsylvania, he taught at Dartmouth College and worked as an analyst in the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research. The recipient of numerous fellowships and awards, Lustick has served as a consultant on Middle East, national security, and intelligence matters for every American administration since the 1970s except for the current one.

Stephen J. Heyman, W'59, together with his wife, Barbara, created the Bess W. Heyman Professorship in 1989 to honor his mother and the I. George Heyman University Professorship in 2010 to honor his father.
