Byongjoo Bark

Byongjoo was born and raised in South Korea and received a BS in chemistry from University of Michigan in 2015. At University of Michigan, Byongjoo did undergraduate research in Prof. Szymczak’s group for the mechanistic study of transfer hydrogenation catalyzed by ruthenium catalysts. Byongjoo began graduate school in 2015 at the University of Washington and worked jointly for Profs. Karen Goldberg and D. Michael Heinekey before moving to the University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 2017 with the Goldberg group. His research has focused on improving the catalytic deoxygenation of glycerol and studying the immobilization of molecular catalysts on support materials.
