This website was first designed as an online catalogue of Japanese prints from the Kislak Collection. Students in the seminar, ARTH 515: Utamaro and his Contemporaries, designed the site and conducted research on individual prints.
In Fall 2020, students in the seminar, ARTH 513: Beyond the Great Wave: Ukiyo-e in Context,” made analyses of prints held in the Kislak Center and added entries to the print catalogue.
All works featured here are held in the Kislak Center, Van Pelt Library, and are generous gifts made in support of object-based learning and original research. We have included a selected number of prints here and will be adding more examples in future courses.
See the Print Catalogue section for more information about selected prints from the collection.
