Fellow Reed Goodman appointed a Visiting Assistant Professor at ISAW 2023–2025.

Just graduated Fellow Reed Goodman is a Visiting Assistant Professor at NYU’s Institute for the Study of the Ancient World 2023–2025. Reed defended his dissertation “Tides of Change: A Geoarchaeological Study of City and State Formation in Lower Mesopotamia” in June and graduated this August. At ISAW, Reed will continue his geoarchaeological investigations, moving farther south in Iraq and into Kuwait. He will examine the timing of sea level rise and fall in the Persian Gulf and the effects on its shoreline communities. He will continue his role as Assistant Director of the Lagash Archaeological Project, examining Early Dynastic neighborhoods using soil micromorphology and related approaches at the ancient Mesopotamian city of Lagash, Tell al-Hiba in Iraq.
