Philadelphia Public Transportation

The same weekend of the conference, April 27-29, Philadelphia will also be hosting two high-profile events: the Penn Relays (also on Penn campus) and the NFL Draft.

Please read Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA)—Philadelphia’s mass transit system‘s announcement regarding public transportation in the city.

http://www.septa.org/media/releases/2017/04-06-2017.html

SEPTA recommends purchasing passes in advance. Conference participants may find a one-day convenience pass useful for Friday, April 28th. http://www.septa.org/fares/pass/convenience.html

SEPTA operates a coordinated system of bus, subway, elevated train, and trolley lines that cover all of Philadelphia and parts of the surrounding counties. Exact change ($2.25) or a token is required. Weekly and monthly SEPTA TransPasses are also available. Tokens are available at all subway stations, and both TransPasses and tokens can be purchased on campus at the Penn Book Store. Fares are subject to change.

Traveling to Penn from Amtrak’s 30th Street Station

Penn’s campus can be reached from 30th Street Station by foot (it takes 15 minutes to walk from the station to the heart of campus), by cab, or on SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Line (one stop to 34th and Market Streets).

Traveling to Penn from Philadelphia International Airport

The Philadelphia International Airport is located in the Southwest section of the city, approximately 20 minutes from the University of Pennsylvania campus.

  • Taxis will provide a convenient ride to campus, for a flat rate of $28.50 (excluding tip).
  • SEPTA has Regional Rail service, which includes an Airport Line that runs directly from the Philadelphia International Airport to the University City station. University City station is only a few steps away from Penn’s campus.

Traveling to Penn from Club Quarters Philadelphia (Conference Hotel)

Penn is located about 1.6 miles away from Club Quarters. Taxis or ride-sharing options will get you between the two locations in about 10 minutes. When arriving at University of Pennsylvania, the closest cross-streets to Claudia Cohen Hall will be either 34th and Walnut, or 36th and Spruce.

Parking at University of Pennsylvania and in Philadelphia

Penn is located in an urban setting, so if you choose to drive to campus, allow ample time to park and make your way to Claudia Cohen Hall. Please note that Penn does not validate parking. There are several parking facilities located on or near campus, as well as metered street parking. Street parking spaces are usually limited to either two or three hours and cost $2 per hour. Some garages may charge a flat fee, and prices vary. Recommended garages and lots include:
