A postdoctoral research position is available in the Lester group at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA USA. Our research is focused on transient carbonyl oxides (Criegee intermediates) formed in alkene ozonolysis and elusive hydroperoxy alkyl (•QOOH) intermediates in alkane oxidation of volatile organic compounds. Our studies utilize IR, UV-visible, and/or VUV for spectroscopic characterization of the intermediates, along with time-resolved studies of their unimolecular dynamics, photochemistry, photoionization, and collaborative investigations of their bimolecular reactions.

Suitable candidates will have laser spectroscopy expertise and prior experience in experimental physical and/or atmospheric chemistry.
