Penn Grad Talks 2024 | SAS + LPS

Fri, 2/23 @ Widener Lecture Hall, Penn Museum 

What is it? An afternoon of 8-minute TED Talk-style presentations by Penn Arts & Sciences graduate students Who is eligible to enter? Students who are enrolled in the spring of 2024, in a doctoral or master’s program through the School of Arts & Sciences Graduate Division, or in a master’s program in the School of Arts & Sciences College of Liberal and Professional Studies.

Why would I do this? Practice describing your work to general audiences, Get an edited recording of your talk and feedback from our judges, Did we mention there are cash prizes?

When and where? Friday, February 23, 2024, Widener Lecture Hall, Penn Museum

How do I enter? Submit an abstract of no more than 200 words describing your proposed topic by February 1! We will select up to five finalists in each of four categories: Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Professional Masters. Finalists will be notified on February 6. All applicants will need to indicate that they agree for their talks to be posted online. DIRECT LINK TO APPLICATION

Grad Center Events

The Graduate Student Center is located at 3615 Locust Walk and provides a centrally-located for graduate and professional students to connect. The Grad Center holds frequent social and academic/professional events throughout the year, all of which can be found on the Graduate Student Center website.

School of Arts and Sciences Events

From the 60-Second Lecture series to conversations with respected academics and professionals, The School of Arts and Sciences hosts a variety of events throughout the year that allow students to expand their breadth knowledge outside of the classroom.

Fourth Friday @ Five: A Celebration of Philadelphia

Every fourth Friday of the month, the Graduate Student Center hosts a happy hour with Philly-themed Quizzo, food, drinks, and prizes at Houston Hall Class of ’49 Auditorium. Visit the Graduate Student Center’s website to register!

GAPSA Events

Penn’s Graduate and Professional Student Association (GAPSA) serves as the representative body of all graduate and professional students at Penn. In doing so, they represent the interests and advocate on behalf of all graduate professional students to administration and host a variety of events throughout the year.
