Wonil Jung grew up in Seoul, South Korea. He completed his undergraduate degree and doctoral coursework at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, where he received a B.S. in Chemistry. During his career, Wonil developed a chemical synthetic strategy for anisotropy-controlled 2D nanomaterials and studied spectroscopy and DFT calculations of 2D semiconducting nanostructures.

Currently, as a graduate student in the Mallouk group, Wonil is studying electrochemical energy conversion in alkaline fuel cells.

Outside of research, Wonil enjoys reading, working out, meditating, and hanging out with friends.
