Welcome to a new lecture series devoted to the discussion of the historical importance of food, its preparation, and presentation throughout Middle Eastern history.

Join us on Zoom on March 27, 2023 from 2:00PM-3:30PM for a discussion with Dr. Anny Gaul. Dr. Gaul’s talk, “How Do You Say “Tomato” in Egyptian?,” tells the story of how the tomato became domesticated as uniquely Egyptian with a history of cultivation and processing narrated through three Egyptian Arabic terms: quta, tamatim, and salsa.

Dr. Gaul’s talk is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Use the “Register” tab on the home page to register.
