This series of three prints depicts the coastal region Irōzaki in Shizuoka Prefecture, a site famous for its beautiful views. Each print uses the same key block to produce identical outlines, while variations in hue applied to the color blocks change the images to represent different times of day and atmospheric conditions. The flat, saturated colors and bold lines are characteristic of Yoshida’s work. This series was used to demonstrate printmaking techniques in a short film accompanying Yoshida’s 1966 instructional book Japanese Print-Making.
