Welcome to the Penn BiCycles Lab
We study biogeochemical cycling in aquatic environments and Earth’s critical zone
What we do
We have a broad interest in Earth System biogeochemical cycles. Our research is predominantly focused on the flow of elements through aquatic environments and the Critical Zone, where biology interacts with the lithosphere, hydrosphere and cryosphere. We’re particularly interested in polar and alpine elemental cycling and the impacts that climate change is having on these cycles.
The Lab
We’re a small lab group, but we cover a range of research interests framed around biogeochemical cycles. These include glaciology, hydrology and mineralogy. We’re always looking for new ways to answer complex environmental questions, and use cutting edge field and lab techniques to do so.
