Philadelphia contains diverse communities representing many countries and cultures, including the second largest community of Puerto Ricans in the mainland United States. Many Americans—including many Philadelphians and Penn students—do not know about Puerto Rican contributions to North Philly. There is as yet no formal monument to celebrate their local history.
