Abstract: This talk will be a survey of the relationship between scissors congruence and K-theory. The beginning question will be when one polytope can be cut up into pieces and reassembled into another (and invariants that tell you when this might be impossible.) We will then discuss what these invariants have to do with the homotopy groups of the “K-theory” space and what this perspective buys us. We will follow Inna Zakharevich’s exposition in “perspectives on scissors congruence” pretty closely.
