Dr. Steinberg teaches a seminar on “Philosophy and Psychoanalysis: Freud and the Interpretation of Culture” and is a recipient of the School of Arts and Sciences’ Distinguished Teaching Award. A specialist in twentieth century European philosophy, and Lecturer in Philosophy at Penn since 1981, Dr. Steinberg’s other interests include phenomenology, existentialism, and postmodernist thought; nationalism and ideology; and public discourse and contemporary culture. He co-edited (with Judith Rodin) and contributed to Public Discourse in America: Conversation and Community in the Twenty-First Century (Philadelphia: University of Pennsylvania Press, 2003; reissued 2011).
