Flathead Beacon, a daily online and weekly print newspaper based in Kalispell, Montana, is looking for a journalism intern to spend 10 weeks with us this summer.
The ideal candidate will be eager to take on a heavy workload, balancing enterprise reporting for the print edition with daily assignments for the web. He or she will also be responsible for blogging, copyediting, and managing content on our website. It’s a fast-paced environment here, so please don’t apply if you’re not willing to be a bit overwhelmed.
The perks: You will spend the summer in one of the most beautiful areas in the country. We are located just a few miles north of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the West, and near Glacier National Park, affectionately known as the “American Alps.” You also get the opportunity to work with a driven group of journalists who still think this job is fun.
What to expect
The 10-Week Summer Internship Will Involve:
- Complete daily assignments for the web
- Enterprise report for the print edition of Flathead Beacon and Flathead Living magazine
- Manage content on Flathead Beacon’s website
Outside of work, Flathead Beacon’s intern can enjoy the natural splendor that one of the most beautiful areas in the country has to offer. Whether it’s traveling a few miles to Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the West, or visiting the nearby Glacier National Park, affectionately known as the “American Alps,” there is plenty of outdoor adventure to be had.
