Linda Adair Carol Levin  |  clevin@uw.edu Dr. Carol Levin is a health economist and clinical associate professor in the department of Global Health at the University of Washington in Seattle. She is currently working with the Disease Control Priorities Project. Dr. Levin is an expert in conducting economic evaluations of new and modified health technologies and clinical/programmatic interventions for public health programs in developing countries. Before joining University of Washington’s Department of Global Health and the Disease Control Priorities Project in 2013, Dr. Levin spent 12 years as a senior health economist at PATH, an international non-profit in global health, conducting research on the costs and cost-effectiveness of introducing and scaling up public health interventions and new technologies related to vaccine preventable diseases, cervical cancer prevention, maternal and child healthinterventions, STI and HIV prevention, family planning and reproductive health. During her tenure at PATH (2001-2012) she served as the organization’s senior health economist conducting over 20 economic analyses in countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. She was also responsible for leading the introduction and private-sector commercialization of the RBP-EIA method for assessing vitamin A deficiency for use in low-resource settings. While at PATH, she led the design and implementation of two interventions to advance child and maternal health and nutrition, including one project to develop a new multiplex platform for assessing multiple micronutrient deficiencies, as well as another project in Western Kenya to integrate agriculture and health interventions to maximize nutritional benefits of pregnant women and their children. From 1994 to 200, Dr. Levin was a Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). While at IFPRI, she was outposted to Ghana for three years, as a policy advisor to Ghana’s National Development Planning Commission to strengthen capacity in the area of food and nutrition policy. Dr. Levin holds a M.Sc. in international agricultural development from the University of California, Davis, and a PhD in agricultural economics from Cornell University.
