About
The Simons Observatory is set to study micro-kelvin temperature variation in the Cosmic Microwave Background. This is useful for studying the development of the early universe. The telescope is located in the Atacama Desert in Chile. The first science observations are expected in 2023.
The Devlin Lab is integrating and testing the Large Aperture Telescope Receiver, and it is expected to ship at the end of 2021. It will be assembled and stored in the telescope for commissioning. The LATR contains 13 optics tubes which cool down from 300 kelvin to 0.1 kelvin.
