I study how institutions really work, particularly in environments of change and uncertainty.
My research focuses on international economic institutions and their life cycles, particularly in emerging markets. Various manuscripts explore the reputational effects of international organizations; vitality, inertia, change, and death within the lifespans of international organizations; the duration and implementation of international economic agreements; heuristics in financial markets; and the gaps between form and function in institutions.
I am the co-director of the Lauder Institute at the Wharton School and am a visiting fellow with the Global Governance program at the European University Institute.
