Alyssa Rosas grew up in her hometown of El Paso, TX. She completed her undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University, where she received her B.S. in Chemistry. During her undergraduate career, Alyssa investigated a zirconium-based layered material as a targeted anticancer drug delivery vehicle under the direction of Prof. Abraham Clearfield.

Currently, as a graduate student in the Mallouk group, Alyssa utilizes calorimetry to characterize the enthalpy and entropy changes associated with exfoliation and restacking of layered materials. Alyssa has also completed two internships during her graduate career. She successfully described the synthesis and preparation of new titanate nanosheets with Prof. Takayoshi Sasaki at the National Institute for Materials Science in Tsukuba, Japan. She also interned at 3M with the Corporate R&D- Inorganics, Ceramics, and Applied Physics group.

Outside of the research lab, Alyssa enjoys watching The Real Housewives franchise, playing PS4 video games, and watching anime. She is also a fan of sci fi/dystopian books.
