Jeehoon Shin grew up primarily in Seoul, South Korea. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Organic and Nano Engineering at Hanyang University in Seoul. After that, he earned a master’s degree from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, where he majored in Materials Science and Engineering.

During his academic career, he studied the structure-property relationship of semiconductor photocatalysts and developed a templated synthesis of hierarchically structured photocatalytic metal oxides. Also, as a researcher at the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) in Ulsan, he studied catalyst layer design for Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells.

Currently, as a graduate student in the Mallouk Group, Jeehoon is studying Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) for Anion exchange membranes (AEMs).

Outside of research, Jeehoon enjoys walking, listening to music, and watching movies.
