In this discussion, Adrienne Johnson, a PhD Candidate at the University of Tokyo, will discuss her current research on visual kei, performance, and queer politics in Japan.
About the Speaker
Adrienne Renee Johnson is a PhD Candidate in the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at the University of Tokyo and Lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature at Shirayuri University.
She is currently working on her doctoral dissertation, which examines subculture within neoliberal capitalism and liquid modernity using the case study of Visual Kei.
