Title: Coincidences in dimension 8 and 24

Abstract: Dimension 8 and 24 is related to many exceptional structures in mathematics, structures that do not fit into general patterns. Yet there are a lot of relationships amongst them. Are they truly exceptional, or do they all come from a pattern we have not discovered? In this talk, we will look at a few of them and their relationship, and how exceptional they are.
