Abstract:
The genus of an integral quadratic form measures the failure of the local-global principle over the integers. In this talk I will illustrate via examples how to compute the genus mass using the Siegel mass formula. I will also explain how one can reinterpret the genus as the class number of an adelic orthogonal group. This talk complements two previous talks I gave on the 15-290 Theorems and the Bhargava’s Cube.
