B.S. Chemistry, Environmental Science, Public Policy & Law, 2019
Max is from Asheville, NC. He received a B. Sc. from Trinity College, CT, with majors of Chemistry, Public Policy, and Environmental Science. At Trinity, he performed research in synthetic organic chemistry in the lab of Dr. Cheyenne Brindle. At the University of Pennsylvania, Max is a doctoral candidate studying tailored ligand design for critical metals separation and refining in the synthetic inorganic chemistry lab of Dr. Eric Schelter. Max also works as a Senior Fellow at the Penn Center for Innovation, performing patent landscape and marketing analyses for emerging technologies at Penn. In his spare time, Max loves bartending, dining out in Philadelphia, long-distance running, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and beach reads. Max’s goals for the upcoming year are to beat a single person in the Chemistry Department in a tennis match, become Yelp Elite (TM) or die trying, and learn how to play the entirety of Lorde’s seminal electropop album Melodrama (2017) on the piano.
