Chih-jen Melvin Lee

Chih-jen “Melvin” Lee has been a Chinese language lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania since 2005. He received a BA in English language and literature from National Taiwan University and an MA in Asian Studies from Seton Hall University. He
is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in East Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Pennsylvania. His teaching experience ranges from beginning level to advanced level classes and is currently coordinating the Beginning Chinese III and IV classes at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a co-author of Chinese 1 2 3, a beginning level Chinese textbook that is currently under final review and scheduled to publish soon. He served as the head instructor of the STARTALK Penn High School Chinese Academy from 2007 to 2014. From 2015 to 2016, he was the Deputy Executive Director at Penn’s Fox Leadership Program.
