The LCS certificate requires coursework in 3 of the 4 core PhD programs (CIS, Linguistics, Neuroscience and Psychology), as well as one quantitative statistics course. For students in these PhD programs, the requirement amounts to the following:
- 2 course units from one non-core department
- 1 course unit from a different non-core department
- 1 quantitative statistics course
(Students from other PhD programs furthermore need to complete an additional 2 course units in a 3rd core PhD program; students from core PhD programs will generally satisfy this requirement automatically.)
See the Course Guide for a list of relevant courses. Additional courses can be pre-approved by the LCS director in consultation with the student’s advisor.
