Course Description

This course is a continuation of CHIN-0100 Beginning Chinese I. The objective of this course is to help students build a solid foundation in the four basic language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—within an interactive and communicative learning environment. Emphasis is placed on correct pronunciation, accurate tones, and the mastery of basic grammatical structures. Throughout the semester, students will learn approximately 350-400 essential vocabulary words. By the end of the course, students will be able to use the target language adeptly in a variety of everyday situations. These include describing the weather in basic terms, ordering dishes at restaurants, asking for and giving directions, describing common cold and allergy symptoms, making plans to go out with friends, talking about popular sports, and discussing plans for summer break, among other scenarios.
