The officials expressed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to engage with the students and educators at Penn. The visit began with an opening remark by Shaohui Yang, who introduced the history and development of the bank. Yang also shared the bank’s vision and mission, highlighting the bank’s commitment to providing financial services to clients across the globe.

Next, officials from the Bank of Communications’ headquarter in Shanghai, including a Penn alumnus who graduated from the School of Engineering in 2021, gave an online presentation on the bank’s future job opportunities and hiring policies to the students. The officials spoke about the bank’s recruitment process and the qualities they look for in potential employees. They also provided students with information on the various job opportunities available in the bank and answered their questions.

Following this, three Penn students presented their research reports in Chinese on various topics related to China and international economic development. The presentations covered topics such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as Lenovo’s acquisition of IBM. The officials in attendance commended the presentations and provided valuable insights to the students on their research and analysis.

Finally, the students were taken on a tour of the bank’s facilities, where they were introduced to various departments and listened to explanations of their functions.
