Settlement Music School is one of the oldest and largest community music schools in the United States. The School was founded in 1908 on the belief that everyone deserves access to a musical education, and that music can change the lives of young people. Today, we provide an incredible variety of services across the city and region of Philadelphia, for children as young as 6 months and as old as 99 years. Our students are passionate and committed; they might be enrolled in any number of our programs, like instrumental lessons, choir and orchestra, our jazz and rock bands, offered for children and adults, or Kaleidoscope, our arts-integrated Head Start preschool, winner of the President’s “Coming Up Taller Award.” Settlement is a truly unique and special place, where music can happen every day, for anyone.

What to expect

Do you believe music makes the world a better place? If so, come spend your summer with us at Settlement! We seek a talented intern who craves learning new skills and isn’t afraid to tackle big projects. From mid-May through July, our intern will work across departments with a variety of our staff on projects that are key to advancing the institution. Our ideal marketing intern candidate is someone who works best on a team, can manage multiple projects at once, and who has strong people skills. The projects that you will work on will all be related to stakeholder, funder, and community engagement, and so a strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including various social media websites, is desired. We are looking for someone who is creative and thoughtful, and who understands that often the most essential ingredient for solving problems is to roll up your sleeves and dive in.

  • Engage an underutilized community of alumni and broaden the stakeholder base
