| (अनमोल चावला आइडिया मोबाइल कंपनी के पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश के मार्केटिंग हेड हैं । उन्होंने भारती ऐयरटेल में उत्तरी क्षेत्र के हेड के पद पर आवेदन किया है । भारती ऐयरटेल ने उनका चयन तो कर लिया है लेकिन कुछ औपचारिकता शेष है । अनमोल चावला ने श्री विक्रांत शास्त्री के नाम का हवाला दिया है । भारती ऐयरटेल के मानव-संसाधन विभाग के अधिकारी शारीक़ इक़बाल इसलिए उनके संबंध में टेलीफ़ोन पर जाँच कर रहे हैं।)
शारीक़ इक़बाल –हैलो ! क्या मैं श्री विक्रांत शास्त्री से मुखातिब हूँ? विक्रान्त शास्त्री – जी हाँ ! मैं विक्रांत शास्त्री बोल रहा हूँ । शारीक़ इक़बाल – सर ! मैं भारती एयरटेल के एच.आर. विभाग से शारीक़ इक़बाल बोल रहा हूँ। क्या मैं आपका थोड़ा वक़्त ले सकता हूँ बशर्ते आप फ़्री हों । विक्रान्तशास्त्री – बोलिए, शारीक़ साहब ! जहाँ तक मुझे याद आता है कोई बिल-विल तो बाक़ी नहीं है मुझ पर। शारीक़ इक़बाल – सर ! क्यूँ शर्मिंदा कर रहे हैं क्या एयरटेल वाले आपको किसी और काम से याद नहीं कर सकते? विक्रान्त शास्त्री – क्यूँ नही,क्यूँ नहीं । बताएँ, कैसे याद किया? शारीक़ इक़बाल – बात यह है शास्त्री जी ! आइडिया मोबाइल के श्री अनमोल चावला ने अपनी नई जॉब के लिए आपके नाम का हवाला दिया है — विक्रान्त शास्त्री – क्या अनमोल ने ‘आइडिया’ छोड़ दिया? शारीक़ इक़बाल – छोड़ तो नहीं दिया, लेकिन छोड़ने की सोच ज़रूर रहे हैं । विक्रान्त शास्त्री –यह तो आइडिया कंपनी के लिए एक बहुत बड़ा लॉस होगा और आपकी कंपनी के लिए गेन । यह तो ठीक है कि आपकी कंपनी में उसे अपने फ़ोकस और अपने स्किल को तराशने में ज़्यादा मदद मिल सकेगी। शारीक़ इक़बाल – शुक्रिया सर ! पर मैं अनमोल के बारे में – विक्रान्त शास्त्री – क्या मैंने जो कहा वो काफ़ी नहीं है? शारीक़ इक़बाल – काफ़ी है भी और नहीं भी । विक्रान्त शास्त्री – अगर काफ़ी नहीं है तो पूछिए क्या जानना चाहते हैं उसके बारे में? शारीक़ इक़बाल – सर ! आप अनमोल चावला को कब से जानते हैं? विक्रान्त शास्त्री –करीब दस वर्षों से । आइडिया कंपनी जब एस्कोटेल हुआ करती थी । तभी से अनमोल उनके लिए अनमोल हुआ करता था । मुझे आज तक याद है सन 1999 का वह दिन जब एक बेहद शर्मीले युवक ने पहले ही दिन मुझसे कनेक्शन के लिए संपर्क किया था । शारीक़ इक़बाल – बीच में टोकने के लिए माफ़ी चाहूँगा । यह कब की बात है? तब आप कहाँ थे सर? विक्रान्त शास्त्री – उन दिनों मैं कोकाकोला में था और अनमोल आया था हमारे यहाँ कार्पोरेट कनेक्शन्स के लिए। शारीक़ इक़बाल – काफ़ी पुरानी बात है लेकिन उस डील का क्या हुआ? मेच्योर हुई थी या नहीं? विक्रान्त शास्त्री – नई- नई नौकरी होने पर भी अनमोल के लचीले रुख के कारण वो डील एक सप्ताह के भीतर ही पूरी हो गई थी । करीब 100 कनेक्शन्स लिए थे हमने उससे । शारीक़ इक़बाल – क्या बीच में उन्होंने कभी — विक्रान्त शास्त्री – दो एक साल पहले, समय ठीक से याद नहीं है, अनमोल कुछेक महीने के लिए रिलायंस में गया था, लेकिन उसकी अनुपस्थिति में कंपनी यानी आइडिया कंपनी को नए नए आइडिया आने बंद हो गए थे । फिर क्या था कंपनी ने सारा ज़ोर लगाकर उसे वापस बुला लिया था । शारीक़ इक़बाल – सर ! क्या यह जुलाई 2000 की बात है? विक्रान्त शास्त्री – शायद आप ठीक फ़रमा रहे हैं । शारीक़ इक़बाल – सर ! यह तो स्पष्ट है कि आपके विचार में अनमोल एक भरोसेमंद नौजवान है । लेकिन उसकी ज़िंदगी और वफ़ादारी के बारे में आप कुछ और जानकारी देते तो — विक्रान्त शास्त्री – देखिए, शारीक जी ! मैं उसे पिछले दस ग्यारह सालों से जानता हूँ । आज उत्तर प्रदेश में आइडिया मोबाइल को नंबर वन बनाने में उसका योगदान कम नहीं है । वैसे वह एयरटेल में जाने की सोच ज़रूर रहा है पर आइडिया वाले उसे इतनी आसानी से छोड़ने को राज़ी होंगे – ऐसा लगता तो नहीं । शारीक़ इक़बाल- सर ! इस बारे में कुछ भी कहना ज़ल्दबाज़ी होगा । विक्रान्त शास्त्री – हाँ, यह तो ठीक ही कह रहे हैं आप । लेकिन कंपनी के आला अफ़सर भी आइडिया को अनमोल और अनमोल को आइडिया का पर्याय मानते हैं । शारीक़ इक़बाल – सर ! लगता है कि आप अनमोल के बारे में बहुत ही उम्दा राय रखते हैं । विक्रान्त शास्त्री – आप सच कह रहे हैं । वाक़ई अनमोल को व्यावसायिक तौर पर मैं कुशल व्यक्ति मानता हूँ । शारीक़ इक़बाल – सर ! मैंने आपका कीमती वक़्त लिया मगर यह बेहद ज़रूरी था । वरना मैं बेवजह आपको तक़लीफ़ नहीं देता । विक्रान्त शास्त्री – अरे ! नहीं, ऐसी कोई बात नहीं । आप जब चाहें मुझे ऐसी तक़लीफ दे सकते हैं । शारीक़ इक़बाल – शुक्रिया सर ! नमस्कार । विक्रान्त शास्त्री – नमस्कार ! |

Structural Review
| 1. | कैसे याद किया? | Unlike in English, the subject of a sentence can be left out in Hindi provided it is retrievable from the context. Here the understood subject is आपने. |
| 2. | श्री अनमोल चावला ने …. आपके नाम का हवाला दिया है | The use of ने after the subject in this sentence is triggered due to two factors – the verb करना of the same sentence is transitive and is also in perfective form. |

Cultural Notes
| 1. | Use of English words | There are many English words used in various professions for which there is no good Hindi equivalent. Words like टेलीफ़ोन, मोबाइल, बिल, कंपनी, कार्पोरेट have already been assimilated, but words like मार्कीटिंग हेड, फ़ोकस, कनेक्शन are also good candidates for assimilation. However, words like लॉस, मेच्योर could have been easily replaced by Hindi words. |
| 2. | Relationship between the two interlocutors | It seems from the language that both of them knew each other and their relationship is not merely professional. In such relationships there is always some scope for humor. |
| 3. | Use of Urdu words
|
The use of some typically Urdu words is common in Hindi speech. If the speaker is a Muslim, there is a greater likelihood of this but non-Muslims also use such words. Some such words in this lesson are बशर्ते, मुख़ातिब. Many other words of Urdu origin have been fully assimilated into Hindi and Hindi speakers use them without being aware of their origin. |
