Jake Marmer & his students joined thousands of others in ModPo—what happened?
Poet-performer-teacher Jake Marmer taught a course on modern poetry at a high school in Palo Alto in the fall of 2016. But this time he and his students joined ModPo—and so the poems they read, and also their discussions, were part of a huge interpretive community. He paid close attention to the students’ response to this innovative approach. Recently he gave a talk about Coursera in nearby Mountain View. With gratitude to Jake, I here present just three slides from his presentation. From these you’ll get the sense of Jake’s experiment in poetry teaching and learning.
